In November 2025, Shudder and Independent Film Company have closed a deal for the horror film "Dolly," securing the rights for North American, U.K., Irish, and Australia-New Zealand territories. The film, directed by Rod Blackhurst, is set to receive a theatrical release next year.
"Dolly" centers on Macy, a young woman who is fighting for her survival after being taken by a monstrous figure intent on raising her as its child. The film has been praised for its blend of New French Extremity aesthetics and 1970s American horror sensibilities. The ensemble cast includes Fabianne Therese, Seann William Scott, Ethan Suplee, Russ Tiller, Kate Cobb, and Michalina Scorzelli, with former NWA TV Champion Max the Impaler making their film debut in the title role.
The Witchcraft Motion Picture Company production earned strong reviews at Fantastic Fest and Sitges Film Festival earlier this year. Blackhurst, an Emmy and Critics Choice-nominated filmmaker, wrote the screenplay with Brandon Weavil. The film is produced by Ross O'Connor, Noah Lang, and Blackhurst, with a team of executive producers including Steven Schneider, whose credits include "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious."

"'Dolly' is a grotesque, beautiful backwoods nightmare," said Shudder's senior VP of programming and acquisitions, Samuel Zimmerman. "Rod Blackhurst and team transcend their influences to create a beguiling, terrifying new monster; one to love and definitely fear."
