Shriya Saran's Spa: Empowering the Visually Impaired

Actress Shriya Saran once channeled an innovative concept into a socially impactful venture by opening a spa in Mumbai. Established in 2011 in Lokhandwala, Shree Spa provided employment to visually impaired individuals as trained therapists. Some therapists were completely blind, while others had partial vision.

Saran's inspiration stemmed from witnessing the limited employment prospects for visually impaired people during her time at a blind school in New Delhi. She recognized their exceptional sense of touch, believing it made them ideally suited for massage therapy. The spa, named Shree Spa, is no longer operational, having closed during the pandemic.
