Shreya Ghoshal: Every Singer Needs a Composer Within

Playback singer Shreya Ghoshal asserts that singers inherently carry a composer's sensibility within them. She highlighted the importance for vocalists to develop a composer's perspective to fully interpret and deliver a song. Ghoshal has personally explored this by releasing independent singles that she has composed, often in collaboration with her brother.

She explained that the act of singing itself involves constant creativity, where artists naturally add their unique touches and soul to a song. This process, she noted, can fluidly lead to new compositional ideas. Ghoshal mentioned that a lack of time is the primary reason she hasn't delved deeper into composing, especially for film projects which can be rigid.

While she admires composers greatly, drawing inspiration from artists like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, Ghoshal feels a significant gap between their mastery and her own. She currently prioritizes her singing career but has hinted that she might pursue composing more actively in the future.
