Shrewsbury Folk Festival, a highlight of the folk music calendar, is returning to Shropshire for a four-day event from August 28 to 31 at the West Midlands Showground. This popular festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors who will enjoy a wide array of attractions. The schedule includes performances by notable musical acts, opportunities for traditional dancing, and various workshops designed to engage attendees.
A dedicated youth festival, 'Pandemonium!', will cater to children aged birth to 11 with music, crafts, and storytelling. For teenagers aged 11 to 20, 'Refolkus' offers music, dance, and circus skills. The festival also features a folk club for sing-a-rounds and music sessions, alongside Morris and dance performances. Attendees can also participate in morning yoga and pilates, and craft or instrument workshops.
The festival grounds will be accessible to ticket holders from Thursday afternoon for campers, with day ticket holders gaining entry from Friday. Various stages and areas, including the Severn, Pengwern, Sabrina, Village, and Dance Tent, will host the scheduled events. Organizers have provided detailed information regarding gate opening times and site access, including parking and public transport options. Strict guidelines are in place for barbecues, prohibiting open fires and disposable units, with a focus on safety due to recent wildfire concerns.
