Shoshana Bean: From Broadway Star to Grammy Winner

Shoshana Bean is enjoying a period of significant professional achievement. In 2025, she received her first Tony Award for her portrayal of Lucy Emerson in The Lost Boys, and later that year, she was awarded a Grammy for her work on the Hell's Kitchen cast recording. She is currently a beloved member of the Broadway company at the Palace Theatre.

Bean is set to embark on a limited tour for her seventh independent album, 'Only Smoke.' This project, released late last year, is described as personal and intimate, showcasing Bean's evolved approach to songwriting. The tour will consist of two week-long engagements this fall, beginning September 13 in Nashville, with stops planned in cities like Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, and her hometown of Seattle.

The 'Only Smoke' album emerged from a period of intense songwriting and self-reflection following a personal relationship's end. Bean intentionally focused on emotional transparency in her lyrics, a departure from her signature vocal style. For the tour, she is collaborating with producer Steve Jordan to craft a 90-minute set that will feature songs from 'Only Smoke,' her earlier work, and potentially some theater selections. Bean is even learning to play the guitar for these performances.

Returning to the Palace Theatre after her tour dates, Bean expresses deep affection for her Broadway home and the younger generation of performers in the company, whom she believes are the future of the industry. This current success marks a full-circle moment from the early days of her recording career, when Broadway was her sole focus and her independent music was viewed as a secondary pursuit.
