Shekhar Suman: Jaya Bachchan's 'Disaster' TV Live Show

Shekhar Suman has reminisced about his professional relationship with veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, recalling both successful ventures and challenging experiences. Initially reluctant to return to television after his Bollywood debut, Suman was convinced to join the sitcom 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' upon learning Jaya Bachchan was producing it. He detailed her active involvement on the sets, emphasizing her personal interest and supervision which proved encouraging.

The sitcom, backed by Jaya Bachchan's production house, became a memorable hit of the 1990s, significantly impacting Suman's television career. Their collaboration later extended to the first live National Awards show, a project that, despite its ambitious nature, Suman described as a "huge disaster" due to unforeseen electrical failures and technical mayhem during the broadcast.

Despite the broadcast issues, the experience offered Suman quality time with the Bachchan family. He recalled engaging in extended discussions about creative ideas with Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan at their Delhi residence. Recently, Suman was featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi' and has launched his own YouTube talk show and an acting academy.
