Summary
- Community group aims to reopen historic Sheffield pub.
- Crowdfunder launched to transform pub into arts venue.
- Venue will host live music, theatre, and media events.
Sheffield Community Media, the broadcaster behind Sheffield Live, has initiated a crowdfunder to revitalize a historic Sheffield pub into a vibrant live arts and media venue. The group successfully acquired the former Tap and Barrel pub in Castlegate earlier this year with financial support from The Key Fund.
Currently, the team is seeking community shareholders to become co-owners in the building's transformation. This endeavor aims to fully realize the venue's potential for live music, performing arts, and media, ensuring it serves and is managed by the community.
With initial funding secured to make the building habitable and accommodate their studios, additional financial backing is now required for public use. The group envisions reopening the building by the middle of next year, featuring a pub and cafe bar with a strong focus on live arts and performance.
