Shark Week 2026: K-Pop, Ancient Sharks & Record Dives

Shark Week is set to return in July 2026, promising viewers an electrifying mix of classic elements and new, channel-first specials. This annual event, a significant ratings generator for the Discovery Channel, will explore the world of sharks with celebrity guests and scientific investigations.

The 2026 lineup includes unique programming like "K-Pop Shark Heroes," airing Sunday, July 26th. This special features singer REI AMI and actor Ken Jeong investigating shark myths and conservation in Asia, following recent incidents off the Korean peninsula.

"House of Sharks," premiering Monday, July 27th, will showcase rare footage of great white sharks near New Zealand. Researchers will document how these apex predators engage in territorial battles over feeding grounds, highlighting their complex social dynamics.

On Wednesday, July 29th, explorer Josh Gates will host "Expedition Unknown: Shark Secrets." He will investigate historical shark attack accounts, including the earliest recorded incident and a sea monster legend from Scotland in 1808.

For thrill-seekers, "Ultimate Shark Dive" on Thursday, July 30th, features diver Molly Carlson performing record-setting dives into shark-inhabited waters. Other scheduled programs include "Jaws vs Orca" and "Invasion of the Mega Sharks."

Discovery Channel's head of content, Joseph Boyle, emphasized the legacy of Shark Week, noting this year's lineup offers "glowing sharks, Jurassic giants, record-setting stunts... and even, K-Pop."
