His distinguished career was marked by numerous accolades, including India's Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Fellowship, and multiple Grammy Award nominations, of which he won four.
Hussain passed away in December 2024 at the age of 73 in California due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Shankar Mahadevan, known for his work with the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio and his hit non-film album 'Breathless,' has also achieved significant recognition in the music industry, including a Grammy Award.
