Barcelona's Serielizados festival is set to launch on October 19th, opening with the Catalan premiere of the 3Cat-HBO Max co-production "In Vitro." The festival will showcase six international and four national series, including the world premiere of Movistar Plus's "Celeste 2." The industry segment, Serielizados Pro, will expand its focus on European co-productions and host the second "Mind the Gap" international pitch, expecting over 300 delegates.
This year's motto, 'An Eye for It,' emphasizes the festival's role in editorial curation amidst overwhelming content. Serielizados aims to be a trusted tastemaker, filtering for series that truly matter. The opening selection, "In Vitro," highlights strong local co-productions and addresses relevant contemporary themes. The national competition features sophisticated dramedies, while the international competition offers a more eclectic mix of genres.
Notable guests include director Rodrigo Sorogoyen, writer Steven Moffat, producer Sue Vertue, and culinary icon Ferran Adrià. The festival is also celebrating its organic growth into a production outfit with the closing series "Episòdic: El principi d'Arquimedes," which provides a platform for film students. This initiative bridges the gap between film school and professional industry for 38 students.
Serielizados continues its tradition of attracting top international creators, with Moffat and Vertue representing a significant cultural bridge with the UK. Rodrigo Sorogoyen will serve as president of the international jury. Ferran Adrià will participate in a talk exploring the intersection of gastronomy and television, coinciding with the 3Cat premiere of his series "Gènesi."
