Seinfeld Cast Reunites for Larry David's Selfish Agenda

In 2025, comedian and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, now 78 years old, decided to bring the main cast of the iconic sitcom back together for a reunion on his show Curb Your Enthusiasm. However, David's true agenda was not simply to entertain fans, but to win back his ex-wife, Cheryl (played by Cheryl Hines).

The Seinfeld reunion was a creative way to address David's personal life, as writer and producer Jeff Schaffer explains: "We were going to do a Curb-style Seinfeld reunion, which meant Curb Larry was going to get the cast back together and do a reunion for his own selfish reasons. He wanted to get back with Cheryl. His whole agenda was self-serving."

While Seinfeld, 71, thought the idea was a good one, not everyone was immediately on board. Jason Alexander, who played the character of George Costanza (based on the real-life David), had initial concerns about whether a reunion would work, worrying that the "charm" of the characters in their 30s and 40s might not translate to their 40s and 50s. However, he ultimately agreed to participate and called the experience "glorious," noting that the "ensemble feeling" and "affection" the cast shared was immediate.

Despite some discomfort, David gave Alexander "credit" for playing a "prickly version of himself" on the show, as the plot involved Alexander dropping out of the reunion and David stepping in to play George in the Seinfeld special. This meta-narrative added an extra layer of complexity to the reunion, which Schaffer described as "very odd."
