The climax of the celebrated 1981 Telugu film 'Seethakoka Chiluka' was reshot with a happy ending following a suggestion from producer Edida Nageswara Rao. His son, Edida Raja, recalled that the original tragic conclusion was altered to promote a positive message about inter-caste relationships. Director Bharathiraja readily accepted the advice, leading to a more hopeful resolution for the love story.
This directorial adjustment proved successful, as 'Seethakoka Chiluka' garnered significant accolades, including the National Award for Best Telugu Film and multiple Nandi Awards. The film's production began after Vamsi suggested Bharathiraja, known for his debut '16 Vayathinile', collaborate with Poornodaya Creations, which had previously produced the hit 'Shankarabharanam'. The film was shot concurrently with its Tamil counterpart, 'Alaigal Oivathillai', and is not a remake.
