Romanian Director's English Debut Stars Sebastian Stan

Director Cristian Mungiu is currently in post-production for his newest film, a project that marks his directorial debut in the English language. The film features actors Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve, whom Mungiu praised for their performances in what he described as a delicate and intimate story. This venture is Mungiu's first since his 2022 drama R.M.N.

The film centers on a couple with Romanian and Norwegian heritage who relocate to the wife's Norwegian hometown with their children. Their fresh start is complicated by their encounter with a local couple possessing drastically different perspectives. Notably, the film reconnects Sebastian Stan with his birthplace, Romania, where he lived until the age of eight.

Mungiu also highlighted the unique linguistic blend of the film, which features English, Norwegian, and some Romanian dialogue. He is also serving as patron for the Atlas Workshops at the Marrakech Film Festival, supporting emerging filmmakers from the Middle East and Africa, aligning with his efforts to foster new voices in cinema.
