Summary
- Keira Knightley stars in Netflix adaptation of 2016 novel
- Cast struggled with seasickness while filming on a yacht
- Restricted access to yacht's amenities due to filming requirements

In October 2025, the cast and crew of the Netflix thriller "The Woman in Cabin 10" faced a unique set of challenges while filming on a luxury yacht. The movie, based on the 2016 novel by Ruth Ware, stars Keira Knightley as Lo Blacklock, an investigative journalist who witnesses a woman being thrown overboard during a travel assignment on the yacht.
While the idea of filming on a glamorous yacht may have seemed appealing, the reality proved quite different for the cast and crew. Knightley, along with co-stars Guy Pearce and David Ajala, struggled the most with seasickness due to the constantly moving water. The director, Simon Stone, had to quickly make logistical changes, including designating a "room of doom" where the actors could retreat when they felt nauseous.
The tight filming restrictions also presented a challenge, as the cast and crew were not allowed to touch or enjoy the yacht's impressive amenities. With 25 crew members, 70 movie crew, and 20 actors on set, the limited space meant everyone was "crunched up against each other" for 12 hours a day. The director likened the experience to "student film" or "guerrilla filmmaking," as nothing was allowed to touch the ground and the crew had to be extremely careful with the yacht's delicate interiors.
Despite the difficulties, the cast and crew made the best of the situation, with Ajala joking that they were "pretty spectacular" at pretending to enjoy themselves. The end result, the Netflix adaptation of "The Woman in Cabin 10," is set to premiere in late 2025, offering viewers a thrilling and visually stunning cinematic experience.
