A revival of the popular medical sitcom Scrubs is slated to air on ABC in early 2026, bringing back several original cast members. John C. McGinley has confirmed his return as the memorable Dr. Perry Cox, highlighting his close relationship with show creator Bill Lawrence. McGinley credits the show's resurgence in popularity to younger generations discovering its reruns.
Joining McGinley are Zach Braff as J.D., Donald Faison as Turk, Judy Reyes as Carla, Robert Maschio as Todd, and Phil Lewis as Dr. Hooch. The series will also feature new additions to the cast, including Vanessa Bayer and Joel Kim Booster. This extensive lineup aims to reignite the magic of the original nine-season run.
The success of the revival will depend on navigating the current media landscape, with many younger viewers accustomed to streaming. ABC will need to consider how viewership numbers are tallied, especially with episodes likely to be available on Hulu post-broadcast. Fans are hopeful for a successful return, comparing it to other sitcom revivals.
