Scream 7 is set to deliver a massive opening weekend, with predictions estimating at least $40 million in ticket sales, possibly becoming the franchise's highest-grossing debut. Neve Campbell makes a highly anticipated return as Sidney Prescott, a role she previously missed in Scream VI due to a salary dispute. The film also features original stars Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley.
Directed by Kevin Williamson, who penned the original Scream, the seventh installment sees Sidney and her daughter encounter a new Ghostface killer. The franchise, which began in 1996, is known for its meta-commentary on horror tropes. Scream VI, released in 2023, was the franchise's highest earner to date, with $108.4 million domestically and $166.6 million globally.
Notable absences from Scream 7 include stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Christopher Landon also exited as director amidst controversy. The film marks the first in the series to be screened in IMAX and other premium formats, indicating a significant push by the studio.
