23 Mar
Summary
- Scottie Pippen claims Michael Jordan's success was a marketing plot.
- Pippen appeared in a commercial for Mr. Pibb soda.
- Pippen and Jordan's relationship fractured after 'The Last Dance'.

Scottie Pippen recently launched a new verbal assault on his former Chicago Bulls teammate, Michael Jordan, through a commercial for Mr. Pibb soda. Pippen suggested that Jordan's widely celebrated career and GOAT status were the result of a "decade-long plot" involving marketing, social media, and documentaries.
He questioned the perception of being "second best," implying that this narrative was intentionally constructed. This latest jab follows years of public tension between the two NBA legends, which escalated after the 2020 release of ESPN's 'The Last Dance' documentary.
Pippen expressed dissatisfaction with his portrayal in the series, feeling it overemphasized Jordan's contributions and downplayed his own role in the Bulls' historic six championships. He has since described Jordan as difficult to deal with and stated they were never close off the court.
Adding another layer to their fractured relationship, Pippen's ex-wife, Larsa, briefly dated Jordan's son, Marcus, though they have since reportedly split. Pippen has reflected on their past in his book 'Unguarded,' admitting he missed opportunities to foster a closer bond with Jordan, particularly after the murder of Jordan's father in 1993.
