Scott Mitchell Hurt by Backlash Over Tanya Franks Romance

Scott Mitchell, widower of Dame Barbara Windsor, has shared the deep hurt caused by public criticism of his new relationship with EastEnders actress Tanya Franks. Mitchell, 62, and Franks, 58, found common ground in advocating for dementia awareness following their personal experiences with the disease.

Mitchell, who cared for Barbara Windsor during her Alzheimer's battle and was married to her for 20 years until her death in 2020, acknowledged the swiftness of his new romance led to judgment. He expressed that online comments can be damaging, but affirmed that Franks is supportive of him discussing his late wife, just as he is of her speaking about her own past loss.

Reflecting on his late wife's legacy, Mitchell suggested Dame Barbara herself would have approved of his new relationship, having 'liked' Franks. He emphasized that he is happy and living life, stating that his own unhappiness would not bring Barbara back. Both Mitchell and Franks will remember their loved ones this Christmas.
