Scott & Colman Tackle Hamlet Star's Legacy

StudioCanal has announced "Elsinore," a new film starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman. The movie will explore the life of Ian Charleson, the celebrated Scottish actor who famously starred in "Chariots of Fire" and whose final role was Hamlet in a notable London theater production. This project was revealed during the company's content preview event in Paris.

The event also provided updates on other significant productions. A biopic about the iconic American-born French entertainer Josephine Baker, written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, is slated to begin filming in 2026. Additionally, Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo, who previously worked together on "Selma," are developing a modern thriller titled "Heist of Benin."

Further details emerged regarding a new cinematic adaptation of "Les Misérables," positioned as a major Christmas family film for France next year. The creative team, including director Fred Cavayé and stars like Vincent Lindon and Noémie Merlant, emphasized that this adaptation offers a fresh perspective, distinct from previous versions. Actors expressed enthusiasm for their roles and the collaborative production experience.
