Scorsese Joins Ghobadi's Eva Green Horror Film

Esteemed filmmaker Martin Scorsese has lent his support to Bahman Ghobadi's upcoming horror film, 'Trees Are Watching,' taking on an executive producer role. The movie is slated for its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this Friday. This collaboration deepens a long-standing friendship and professional relationship between Scorsese and Ghobadi.

'Trees Are Watching' stars Eva Green as Darya, a novelist who journeys back to her hometown of Mardin with her deaf daughter. There, past memories, Kurdish legends, and the destruction of the local landscape intertwine. Ghobadi, who is also presenting the film, has described it as deeply personal, influenced by his years of exile and reflections on humanity's connection to nature.

The film is written and directed by Ghobadi, with production credits shared among Seyfi Sahin, Lydia Dean Pilcher, Golriz Ehtiati, and Ghobadi himself. Scorsese and Lucas Akoskin, alongside Bahoz Nasradin, are executive producers. Ghobadi is a celebrated director known for his appearances at major film festivals with previous works like 'A Time For Drunken Horses' and 'Turtles Can Fly.'
