Radial Entertainment has secured the North American distribution rights to the Singapore-produced sci-fi action film, "Heavens: The Boy and His Robot." This acquisition is among the first for Radial Entertainment, which was established last July. The movie is notable as Singapore's first live-action feature within the mecha genre, a style popularized by Japanese manga and anime focusing on robots.
The narrative follows Kai, a young pilot, and his giant robot companion, Little Dragon. Set against a backdrop of galactic conflict, the story highlights Kai's ambition to join the Mecha Corps and bring peace, alongside the development of his unique friendship with his mecha. This film represents a significant 12-year endeavor for its writer, director, and producer, Rich Ho.
"Heavens: The Boy and His Robot" has been recognized at various film festivals, including Bucheon (BIFAN), Fantasporto, and Fantasia. Its U.S. premiere is scheduled for next month at Cinequest. Prestige International Pictures is managing international sales for the title.
