18 Oct
Summary
- Savchenko questioned Alan Bersten's dancing ability for DWTS.
- Val Chmerkovskiy received a one-week suspension from DWTS.
- Bersten is temporarily replacing Chmerkovskiy as Jenna Dewan's partner.
Gleb Savchenko recently voiced strong opinions regarding Alan Bersten's dancing capabilities in the context of Dancing with the Stars. During a livestream, Savchenko expressed that Bersten, who is filling in for a suspended Val Chmerkovskiy, is "just not up to the level of dancing." He further elaborated that while Bersten might be a "good dancer, I guess, for TV," his ability to create "art dancing" is questionable.
Bersten is temporarily partnered with Jenna Dewan following Chmerkovskiy's one-week suspension. This penalty marks the show's first-ever suspension for a professional dancer, incurred after Chmerkovskiy posted a critique of judge Carrie Ann Inaba on Instagram. Chmerkovskiy has since apologized for his remarks.
Savchenko, a former pro on the show, questioned the choice of Bersten as a replacement, pondering other potential partners. He clarified his remarks were intended as honesty rather than malicious intent. This season marks the show's 35th iteration, with Savchenko not being part of the current roster.
