TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has returned to Studio 1A following several weeks away to recover from vocal cord surgery. She announced in December 2025 that she was undergoing a procedure to address issues with her vocal cords, which had become noticeably deeper and raspier over time.

Dr. Peak Woo, a leading voice specialist, identified a hemorrhagic polyp on one vocal cord and a vocal nodule on the other. These conditions contributed to her rough, gravelly voice, making it difficult to speak. Microlaryngeal surgery was performed to carefully repair the vocal cords.
