Savannah Guthrie returned to co-host the 'Today' show on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. She had been absent from the broadcast for two days, with Craig Melvin announcing her return date without specifying the reason. This temporary break occurs while her mother, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1, 2026. The FBI has investigated her disappearance, releasing photos of a suspect tampering with her home's camera prior to her vanishing. Law enforcement believes Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will.
Recent analysis by a former FBI agent suggests that four ransom emails connected to the case are fraudulent. The agent noted that the bitcoin addresses in the emails did not align with legitimate investigative leads. Despite these developments, no suspect has been identified in the eight months since Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.
