Saudi director Tawfik Alzaidi, celebrated for his Cannes-selected debut 'Norah,' is preparing to shoot his second feature film, 'Thuraya,' in 2026. This action and adventure movie, set against the backdrop of the Bedouin community in early 20th-century Saudi Arabia, will be filmed for IMAX, promising an epic cinematic experience with a notable composer's score. Film AlUla is again supporting the production, mirroring its involvement with Alzaidi's previous work.
Red Palm Pictures CEO Paul Chesney confirmed that 'Thuraya' is currently in the casting stage and slated for production next year. The film aims to highlight a strong female character from within the Bedouin community. This project is part of Red Palm Pictures' expanding slate, which also includes a Saudi-shot English-language co-production with a U.S. indie and a UK-based music drama.
