Saudi Arabia is making a significant move into the global film industry with the launch of PlayMaker Studios, a new, state-of-the-art production facility situated near the capital city, Riyadh. Located within the ambitious Qiddiya entertainment city, this expansive studio complex spans over 50 acres and features advanced soundstages, post-production, and music facilities designed to accommodate large-scale international projects. The venture signifies Saudi Arabia's commitment to becoming a major player in global filmmaking.

PlayMaker Studios offers producers a comprehensive, end-to-end production environment, enhanced by a 40% rebate on production costs. The first major project set to grace these new facilities is "Unbroken Sword," a big-budget historical epic. Directed by Alik Sakharov, the film is reportedly set in 7th-century Arabia and chronicles a mythical warrior's legendary battles against the Roman and Persian empires. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in early 2026, marking a significant milestone for the studio.
