Film 'Satluj' Pulled from ZEE5 Over Certification Issues

The film 'Satluj', a biopic on human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra starring Diljit Dosanjh, has been removed from ZEE5's India catalogue shortly after its release. This decision follows a statement from the Union ministry of information and broadcasting, which asserted that the film was made available on the OTT platform without undergoing the mandatory certification process. Officials indicated that the Central Board of Film Certification had recommended approximately 100 cuts, which the filmmakers allegedly bypassed by changing the film's title for its online release.

ZEE5 confirmed the film's unavailability in India until further notice, expressing a commitment to exploring legal avenues for its reinstatement. The removal has drawn criticism, with political figures like Pargat Singh questioning the decision and contrasting it with the exhibition of other films. Diljit Dosanjh acknowledged anticipating such a development, expressing satisfaction that the film had already reached its intended audience through various means prior to its takedown.
