The drama "Satisfaction," written and directed by Alex Burunova, is currently on its international festival circuit following its premiere last March at SXSW. The film's U.K. premiere is scheduled for Saturday at the Glasgow Film Festival on March 7-8. It will also screen at BFI Flare London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival (March 22-23) and Manchester Film Festival (March 23).
Set on an unnamed Greek island, "Satisfaction" centers on Lola, portrayed by Emma Laird. Lola, a young artist, endeavors to reclaim her voice, both creatively and intimately, while managing a complex relationship with her musician boyfriend, played by Fionn Whitehead. The arrival of another woman, Elena (Zar Amir Ebrahimi), intensifies the situation, bringing underlying tensions to the forefront.
Director Alex Burunova described the film's themes, stating, "This story is a little bit about that self-erasure and losing yourself in another person in the name of love." The narrative delves into the human desire for love and the compromises individuals make to feel it, sometimes leading to self-betrayal.
