The release calendar for September has become more crowded with the announcement of Sardar 2's arrival in theaters on September 10. This highly anticipated spy thriller from Karthi is set to create an interesting box-office clash, releasing just a day before Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's Ranabaali.
Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 sees Karthi return as Agent Sardar, also known as Chandra Bose, and Vijay Prakash. The film follows the successful 2022 predecessor, Sardar, which was a major hit for Karthi, earning approximately Rs 84.5 crore globally and ranking among his highest-grossing films.
The sequel's production experienced a setback in July 2024 during its initial schedule in Chennai. A stunt performer tragically died after a fall, leading to a temporary halt in shooting and a safety awareness session organized by FEFSI.
Meanwhile, Ranabaali, a period drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, is slated for release on September 11. Both films will arrive shortly after Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, scheduled for August 26.
