The web series Sankalp, released on Amazon MX Player on March 11, boasts an ambitious eight-hour runtime filmed in an astonishing 57 days. Producer Dishaa Jhaa, daughter of director Prakash Jha, revealed the tight shooting schedule during an exclusive interview. She expressed her aspiration for Sankalp to surpass the record-breaking viewership of her father's earlier successful web series, Ashram.
Dishaa highlighted that Sankalp offers a distinct viewing experience compared to contemporary digital content, emphasizing its nature as a clean family entertainer. While many expected a political theme due to Prakash Jha's involvement, she clarified that the series is primarily a revenge story with minimal political angles. She also fondly recalled working with veteran actor Nana Patekar, describing him as fun-loving and someone who enjoys camaraderie on set.
The show's primary filming locations included Prayagraj and Lucknow, with the entire production completed in under two months. One notable real location featured is Kanhaiylal's (Nana Patekar) bungalow in Prayagraj, which has historical significance, having reportedly housed the Bachchan family. The series, previously titled Laal Batti, was renamed Sankalp to better align with its storyline and legal considerations.
Regarding potential future installments, discussions for a second season are underway. Dishaa confirmed that writer Reshu Nath has ideas for a follow-up, and if greenlit by Jio Studios, the next season would further explore characters like Tushar Pandey's, whose role was condensed in the first season.
