Sanjeev Kumar, celebrated for iconic films, endured a difficult period early in his career. Driven by his family's financial needs, he accepted roles in C-grade films, unaware of their quality. Journalist Hanif Zaveri revealed that Kumar, while struggling, lent Rs 96 lakh to friends who failed to repay him. He also financially supported others, including paying for his driver's wedding and gifting a car.
Kumar's generosity extended to Shatrughan Sinha and Boney Kapoor, both of whom received financial assistance without formal documentation. Kapoor later repaid his loan to Kumar's family after the actor's passing. Kumar even allocated funds in his will for his driver's son's education.
Regarding his personal life, Kumar had relationships with Sulakshana Pandit and others. However, he chose not to marry Pandit. This decision stemmed from a prevalent family history of men dying before the age of 50. Believing he shared this fate, Kumar felt he had a short lifespan and did not wish to impose this on anyone by marrying.
