According to an exclusive report, acclaimed actress Sandra Oh has joined the lead voice cast of the upcoming animated feature film 'Fairyheart'. The film, which is currently in production, is inspired by Magda Szabó's popular 1965 Hungarian novel 'Tündér Lala' and is scheduled for completion in early 2028.
'Fairyheart' tells the story of Lala, the young prince of the mythical land of Tundarra, who must embark on a quest to save humanity from the wrath of the dark wizard Aterpater. Helping him along the way are his friend Bea, a brave but lonely human girl, and Gigi, a magical capibara unicorn.
In addition to Oh, the voice cast includes Tara Strong as Gigi, Emma Ho as Bea, and Delia Chambers as Lala. The film is directed and co-written by Anita Doron, the writer of the 2017 Oscar-nominated animated film 'The Breadwinner'.
'Fairyheart' is a co-production between Mythberg Films (Hungary), Storyteller Pictures and Lakeside Animation (Canada), and Traumhaus Studios (Germany). The project has received backing from various film funds and institutes, including the Hungarian National Film Institute, Telefilm Canada, Ontario Creates, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Creative Europe, and Eurimages.
