Sandra Bullock Breaks Silence After Partner's Death

Sandra Bullock has begun to re-emerge in Hollywood after a significant hiatus following the August 2023 death of her partner, Bryan Randall. Randall had been privately battling ALS for three years. Bullock explained on the "SmartLess" podcast that Randall's wish for privacy during his illness meant few knew what she was experiencing, stating, "He asked me not to share." This vow of secrecy "isolated me in the process," she admitted, noting that her "person left a lot earlier than the body left." Bullock continued to parent her children, Louis and Laila, during this time. She had previously indicated a need for a pause from acting, telling CBS News in March 2022, "work in front of the camera needs to take a pause." Her break was intended to last until she felt ready to be "present, and responsible for one thing." Bullock has since returned to major projects, including a sequel to "Practical Magic" with Nicole Kidman, set for release on September 10, 2026. She also reunited with Keanu Reeves in May 2024 on the "50 MPH" podcast to celebrate "Speed's" 30th anniversary. Bullock expressed a desire to work with Reeves again, stating, "Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera." Reeves echoed this sentiment, noting, "I would love to work with you again before our eyes close." In October 2024, Bullock and Reeves, along with director Jan de Bont, reunited in person for a screening of "Speed."
