Hagar Plans Epic 80th Bash: "Block Off Cabo?"

As Sammy Hagar marks his 36th annual Birthday Bash at the Cabo Wabo Cantina, he reveals aspirations for an extraordinary 80th birthday celebration. Hagar envisions a monumental event, possibly free of charge and potentially encompassing the entire town of Cabo, to accommodate the vast number of fans who consistently face challenges securing tickets. This year alone, approximately 100,000 requests were received for the limited 1,600 available spots across three nights of festivities.

Hagar's current Birthday Bash focuses on his "Red Rocker" and Montrose eras, featuring a reunion of his Waboritas band members alongside esteemed musicians like Kenny Aronoff and Stevie Salas. Despite past difficulties in commercially releasing recordings due to music rights, Hagar continues to explore unique musical concepts, including a long-held science-fiction project.

Looking ahead, Hagar is contemplating a significant career shift towards philanthropy and making a positive impact, stepping away from constant touring. He also extended an olive branch to former bandmate Alex Van Halen, expressing a desire for reconciliation and unification over past discord. Hagar hopes to bridge the gaps between different eras of his career and promote unity.
