11 Feb
Summary
- Sam and Alice welcomed a baby boy on February 9th.
- The couple chose the unique name Marmaduke, nicknamed Duke.
- Sam awaits a liver transplant due to end-stage liver disease.

Made in Chelsea personality Sam Vanderpump and his wife Alice joyfully announced the arrival of their first child, a baby boy born on February 9th. The couple has chosen the distinctive name Marmaduke, with plans to affectionately call him Duke. This meaningful moniker pays tribute to Sam's late father, Mark, who passed away in 2018.
The birth comes after a challenging period for Sam, who was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease at the young age of 28. His life expectancy is unfortunately limited to four years without a transplant, and he is currently on the national waiting list for the procedure.
Sam and Alice, who wed last December, prioritized marrying before their son's birth. Sam explained to Hello! magazine that they wanted to share the same last name as their child and did not want to postpone their wedding due to the uncertainty of his transplant timeline. The couple began their relationship in July 2024 and became engaged eight months later.
