Summary

- The show features a director developing public movie ideas.
- It includes animated feet and a character called Super-Breast.

Subversive Australian comedian Sam Campbell, who gained recognition on "Taskmaster" and "Last One Laughing," now headlines his own unusual sitcom, "Make That Movie," on Channel 4. The series presents Campbell as a pompous director struggling for ideas, who enlists the public to pitch and develop increasingly bizarre film concepts within a reality show format.
The show's creator, Sam Campbell, was given significant creative freedom, partly due to the production company's focus on another project. His long-time collaborator and Channel 4's head of comedy, Charlie Perkins, trusted his vision despite initial conceptual ambiguity. Co-star Lara Ricote, who plays Campbell's assistant Jess, also trusted the project based on her faith in Campbell's comedic talent.
Campbell, who moved to the UK from Australia in the early 2020s, has been a notable presence in British comedy, winning the Edinburgh comedy award in 2022. His unique absurdist take on observational comedy has also been showcased on various panel shows and "Last One Laughing UK."
"Make That Movie" features a fictional film crew, including Aaron Chen as Sebastian and Helen Bauer as Pat, with a visual aesthetic inspired by "Ghostbusters" and "Scooby-Doo." The show also incorporates guest appearances from emerging alternative comedians, contributing to the anthology-style presentation of mind-bendingly terrible, yet creatively diverse, fictional films, including one about feet animation and another surreal concept involving babies governing the universe.
