2 Nov
Summary
- Over 30 hand-signed Salvador Dali lithographs to be auctioned.
- Collection expected to fetch up to £120,000 at auction.
- A rare complete set, 'Conquest of the Cosmos', is a highlight.
A remarkable private collection, comprising more than 30 hand-signed Salvador Dali lithographs, is being prepared for public display in Glasgow before its auction on November 24th. Experts anticipate the collection could reach up to £120,000.
This significant find includes the 'Conquest of the Cosmos' series, a set of six pieces exploring themes of space and science, still in its original 1974 packaging. Such a complete set in its original box is considered exceptionally rare.
The collection, being sold because the owner is moving abroad, also features works by another Spanish artist. Auctioneers describe the discovery of such a large, authenticated private collection as a major event for the art world, especially for a smaller auction house.
Prospective buyers can view the auction catalogue online from November 10th, with artworks available for in-person viewing from November 21st until the sale begins at 18:00 on November 24th.
