Bollywood star Salman Khan has shared candid details about the physical and psychological challenges of performing dangerous stunts throughout his career.
During the filming of 'Jaagruti' in Udupi, Khan was asked to perform an 80-foot leap from a mountain. Despite initial confidence, he found himself unable to see the stacked boxes intended for his landing from the top. He ultimately slipped on gravel during his attempt, his hair grazing the mountain rock as he fell.
Another harrowing incident occurred while shooting 'Patthar Ke Phool' near Mount Mary in Mumbai. Khan was required to skate at high speed and jump over stacked boxes. He realized he had gathered too much speed, resulting in an uncontrolled jump that landed him in a ditch next to the camera, leaving him unable to breathe for over a minute due to the impact on his back.
Psychologist Rasshi Gurnani explains that such risks are often driven by social pressure to maintain identity and status, particularly in high-visibility professions. The need to appear brave can override genuine fear, with adrenaline temporarily suppressing pain and judgment. This can lead to an underestimation of risk and a dangerous normalization of pain and exhaustion.
