Salman Khan wins gag order vs. Abhinav Kashyap

A Mumbai civil court has granted an interim ad-interim ex-parte order, temporarily restraining filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap and others from publishing any statements against Salman Khan and his family. This order was issued on Friday as interim relief in a defamation lawsuit filed by the Bollywood star.

The lawsuit names Kashyap, Komal Mehru, Khushboo Hazare, and several social media platforms as defendants. Salman Khan is seeking a permanent injunction against further comments and damages totaling Rs 9 crores. He alleges that statements made in about 26 video interviews and podcast episodes between September and December 2025 were 'scandalous, false, and grossly defamatory.'

Judge P.G. Bhosale emphasized that while freedom of speech is a constitutional right, it does not permit abusive or threatening language, nor defamatory statements against anyone's family. The court noted that each person's privacy and reputation deserve protection. The interim direction bars the defendants from making, uploading, publishing, reposting, hosting, or circulating any further defamatory content until they respond to the court's notice.
