24 May
Summary
- Salman Khan playfully teased Varun Dhawan for recreating his song.
- Varun Dhawan has previously recreated several Salman Khan songs.
- Producer Vashu Bhagnani objected to the use of Chunari Chunari.
The recent David Dhawan Film Festival saw a lighthearted moment when Salman Khan playfully teased Varun Dhawan about recreating his classic song 'Chunari Chunari.' Salman, addressing the crowd, humorously remarked that Varun had 'taken another one of his songs.' Varun responded with a blush, asking his senior colleague to let it be.
This instance follows Varun Dhawan's pattern of featuring in recreated versions of Salman Khan's popular tracks, including 'Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12' and 'Oonchi Hai Building.' Meanwhile, producer Vashu Bhagnani had previously expressed strong objections to the use of 'Chunari Chunari' in the film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.' Bhagnani had confronted David Dhawan about using the song from his production, citing ethical concerns and a past dispute over audio rights.
Bhagnani stated that he would have readily given his consent if he had been approached directly by David Dhawan for the song's recreation in his son's film. The situation also involved legal proceedings, with a court granting a status quo at one point. Despite past disagreements, Ramesh Taurani had indicated that all issues regarding the film were resolved.
