Salman Khan to star in epic Mahabharata war film Karna

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is advancing his most ambitious project, Karna, a war epic based on The Mahabharata, with Excel Entertainment. The film, which has been in development for five years, is scheduled to begin shooting in August 2027.

Salman Khan has been confirmed to portray the complex character of Karna in this grand production. While the pre-production for Karna continues, Mehra is also set to direct a 30-day film starring Vikrant Massey, described as a small-town love story.

This smaller directorial venture will allow Mehra to complete a project before committing to the extensive five-year plan for the two-part Karna film. Excel Entertainment and their technical team will continue working on Karna's pre-production during Mehra's shoot for the love story.
