Salman Khan Helped Launch Armaan Malik's Career, Pushed Him to Lose 10-15 Kgs

As of November 2025, singer Armaan Malik has opened up about the pivotal role Bollywood star Salman Khan played in his early career. Malik shared that when he was just 16 years old, he had recorded a pop album, aspiring to become "India's Justin Bieber." He then showed the album to Salman Khan, who "loved two of [his] tracks" and decided to incorporate them into his film Jai Ho.

Salman not only provided Armaan with his big break but also challenged him to undergo a dramatic physical transformation. The Bollywood superstar suggested that Armaan and his brother Amaal Malik appear shirtless in the music video, a condition that triggered an intense weight loss journey. Armaan revealed that he lost between 10-15 kilograms through a "rigorous dance and workout schedule" imposed by Salman.

While the shirtless directive was initially presented as a literal demand, Salman later clarified that it was more of a "rhetorical push" to motivate Armaan. Expressing gratitude, the singer acknowledged Salman's pivotal role in launching his career, stating, "He was the one who discovered my talent and brought it to the audience's attention."
