As Omkara reaches its 20th anniversary, Saif Ali Khan has shared a surprising anecdote from the film's production. Director Vishal Bhardwaj had initially proposed that Khan perform a significant mirror scene entirely nude.
Khan recounted that he offered to do the scene if Bhardwaj directed him naked, but the director declined. Looking back, Khan expressed he might have accepted the daring suggestion, believing it would have enhanced the visually striking, silhouette-shot scene.
Shortly before filming, Bhardwaj made a significant change, removing all dialogue from the scene. Instead, Khan was instructed to smash a mirror with a hammer, symbolizing his character's fractured face and anointing himself with the resulting blood. This impactful, dialogue-free sequence was masterfully captured in one continuous shot.
In related news, Saif Ali Khan also addressed past reports about Aamir Khan being considered for the role of Langda Tyagi. Khan confirmed hearing that Aamir Khan had extensive discussions and desired script alterations, leading Bhardwaj to choose Khan instead.
