Ryan Perdz: Grunge Grit Meets Modern Melodies

Ryan Perdz's debut album, 'Can't Cry,' is scheduled for release on August 14th, featuring eleven grunge-inspired tracks. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter, originally from Buffalo, delves into profound themes of heartbreak, insecurity, grief, and mental health.

Perdz aims for the emotional openness reminiscent of 1990s grunge, stating that the album explores relatable feelings many people experience but don't vocalize. While parts of the album stem from a past relationship, Perdz clarifies that the overarching focus is on mental health, with songs like the lead single 'Sour' addressing self-hatred.

Raised on classic rock and 90s alternative, Perdz was inspired to write songs by Kurt Cobain. He gained initial traction through social media, including a viral cover of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' before signing with Big Machine Rock.

Working with producer Sam Hollander proved transformative, helping Perdz experiment with song structures and arrangements. This collaboration resulted in an album that, while referencing influences like Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, offers a distinct modern sound. Tracks such as 'Blood on My Love' and 'Temporary' showcase his arena-ready hooks, while 'Bluebird' explores class differences and 'Adeline' and 'Pink Clouds' reveal his stylistic range.

Following the album's release, Perdz and his band will embark on a tour supporting Daughtry, a full-circle moment for the artist who watched Chris Daughtry on American Idol growing up.
