Molly Gillihan responded to Reid's post with her own public statement on social media, refuting Reid's narrative. Gillihan accused Reid of leaving their shared two-year-old child with them while "covered in throw up, no pants," and then rushing off to a "girls weekend in Miami."

Ryan Lochte, who has not publicly commented on this latest exchange, confirmed earlier in 2026 that he had moved in with Gillihan and her three children, forming a blended family. He denied any overlap between his marriage and his current relationship.
