Summary
- Project Hail Mary's India release postponed to March 26, 2026.
- Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller acknowledge Indian film industry's growth.
- 'RRR' cited as a pivotal moment for Indian cinema in the US.

The release date for Ryan Gosling's highly anticipated film, 'Project Hail Mary,' has been rescheduled in India to March 26, 2026. This adjustment reportedly aims to prevent a conflict with the Indian movie 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge.' The film's co-directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, have publicly acknowledged the increasing global prominence of the Indian film industry.
Speaking with the Hindustan Times, Lord and Miller discussed how the landscape has shifted, noting that Indian films now possess the sway to influence Hollywood release schedules. They highlighted that a decade ago, the reverse would likely have been true. Miller specifically pointed to the success of SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' as a turning point, expanding Indian cinema's reach beyond its traditional audience in the United States.
'Project Hail Mary,' based on Andy Weir's novel, stars Gosling alongside Sandra Huller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce. The science-fiction movie is set to premiere in India on March 26, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It was released in the US on March 20, 2026.
