Ryan Gosling has withdrawn from Universal Pictures' untitled event film, directed by the acclaimed duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as The Daniels.
This decision comes only a week after reports surfaced that the "Project Hail Mary" star was expected to lead the project. The reason cited for Gosling's exit is a scheduling conflict.
While specific plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, it is anticipated that production will commence in Los Angeles this summer. The Daniels and producer Jonathan Wang will produce through their banner, Playgrounds.
The California Film Commission has approved a record 51 film productions for tax incentives. Notably, The Daniels' new film, the follow-up to their Oscar-winning "Everything Everywhere All at Once," will receive $20.8 million in tax credits from $106 million in qualified spending.
