Russian Choir Stuns Delhi with Bollywood Hits

During their inaugural performance in India, the celebrated Mikhail Turetsky Choir delighted Delhiites with a rendition of Bappi Lahiri's iconic 80s Bollywood song, 'Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja'. This musical offering resonated strongly, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience. The 12-member ensemble graced the capital with their presence on Republic Day, adding a vibrant sonic layer to a rainy afternoon.
The choir, acclaimed for its remarkable vocal versatility spanning soprano to basso profundo, presented a diverse repertoire. Captivating renditions of 'Bella Ciao', 'Ot zari do zari', 'Kalinka Malinka', and 'Ave Maria' were enhanced by traditional Russian dances, effectively transporting the sound of Russia to India.
At the event, hosted by the Russian Embassy to celebrate India's Republic Day, Ambassador Denis Alipov remarked on the profound connection facilitated by music. He stated that the concert served as a 'humble and heartfelt gesture of friendship and respect' between the two nations, noting music's unique ability to transcend language barriers and foster emotional unity.
