Summary

- The development includes six apartments and nine new homes.

Rupert Grint, known for his role as Ron Weasley, has obtained full planning permission for an eco-village development. North Herts Council granted approval on June 10 for the conversion of Kimpton Grange into six apartments and the construction of nine additional homes on the estate. This follows an earlier outline planning permission granted in 2024, despite resident concerns about potential harm to local woodland and wildlife.
As a condition of the final approval, the 37-year-old actor must contribute nearly £200,000 to local infrastructure. This significant sum includes £100,000 for Kimpton Parish Council, £70,000 for Katherine Warington School's expansion, and £11,400 for specialized school places. Grint purchased the property in 2009 and initially planned for development in 2022 after an earlier sale attempt in 2018.
The architects behind the project described the plans as "truly outstanding and innovative," emphasizing their commitment to a "carbon neutral" development. The proposal also includes a dedicated gift of land to the parish council, which will be transformed into a public park featuring a picnic area and a circular walk.
