- An alleged altercation with producer Rangita Nandy preceded departure.

Production for the second season of Netflix's 'The Royals' has been disrupted following the mid-shoot departure of director Jasmeet K Reen. Reen, who took over from the first season's directors, reportedly left the Jaisalmer set after an alleged confrontation with producer Rangita Nandy. Sources describe the incident as humiliating, stating that Nandy addressed Reen over a loudspeaker, a situation that crew members found unacceptable.
Following this alleged altercation, filming was reportedly halted, leading to several cast and crew members returning to Mumbai. The show's future direction is now in question, with Nitya Mehra, who was co-directing, possibly taking full charge. The next schedule is anticipated to commence soon in Udaipur, but it remains unclear if Reen will return or if Mehra will lead the season independently.
The first season featured Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter, with Khatter returning for the second season as Maharaj Aviraaj. Sini Shetty is reported to be the new female lead, and Gurfateh Pirzada has also joined the cast for the upcoming season.
